Jessica currently has a documentary feature in production, as well as an unscripted series in development. She’s also directed branded videos for companies like Soul Pancake and ApparentlyJack, and recently shadowed directors on the shows How To Get Away With Murder, Fear The Walking Dead, and American Housewife.
Before focusing on directing, Jessica worked as a producer for unscripted TV shows including Netflix’s Ultimate Beastmaster, was development director for Creature Films at Entertainment One, and spent several years writing, producing and directing episodes of the Emmy award-winning documentary series Dan Rather Reports alongside legendary newsman Dan Rather.
Jessica holds two law degrees from McGill University, a master in broadcast journalism from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, and is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She speaks fluent French and Spanish.
Jessica Sherif is a Third Culture Kid - Algerian and French-Canadian, born in Spain and raised between the Mediterranean and Canada. She's a director and producer who loves character based stories that cut across perspectives and cultures.
Jessica’s dark fantasy short film In Hollywoodland, starring Yetide Badaki (American Gods), Karen David (Fear The Walking Dead) and Jen Richards (Mrs. Fletcher), just started its festival run at Geena Davis' Bentonville Film Festival. She's directed many narrative shorts, including the 80s SciFi Bitchin’ Glitchin’ (Best Film and Best Director nominee, 48HLAFP 2019) and the comedy Lady Parts (Best Narrative, Hollyshorts 2019 & Outstanding Narrative Short, Tallgrass 2019).
